Let’s Go to Bundek - the Grawe Night Marathon

The scene: Zagreb’s Bundek Lake and the Sava river bank! The date: 26 August. The event: marathon, night, organised so that absolutely everyone can join in!

Nobody has to run the whole 42 km if they don’t want to since this marathon offers five different disciplines, from the smallest race, the “Desetinka” (4.2 km) for those who have just started running, a 10 km race, one marathon of 21 km, 3 marathons of 32 km all the way to the full marathon which, according to independent research was really enjoyed by the runners last year. For that reason the organisers have also this year announced “the craziest party under the moon and the stars which you will ever dance at, running!”

Last year 1600 people ran the night marathon. This year the number of participants in all disciplines combined is limited to 2000. Last year all 1600 runners wore luminous wristbands, a symbol of light in the darkness, as an additional sign of support to children who suffer from diabetes, for whom they had already, through the PoKRENI challenge, donated their kilometres, all 130,000 of them, thus securing a donation of 50,000 kuna to the Croatian Union of Diabetic Associations, a charity that works with children with diabetes. This year the numbers are expected to be even more impressive.

The organises say that 26 August is not a day for going out, nor for heading on a trip, and we believe that it should be reserved just for this run. This is the day for Bundek and the fun night marathon!
