A new art scene - Lapo Lapo – the first street art studio
In December, Zagreb got its first street art studio, a place for street artists and all fans of this art form to gather. This form of art is expanding the boundaries of conventional ideas of art.
Lapo Lapo is the name of the first street art studio in Zagreb. The street artists from Zagreb, Miroslav Petković Modul and Boris Bare, have recently opened it in the city centre, at number 50 Ilica Street. Apart from their artist colleagues, all fans of this form of art were invited to the exhibition.
The “Lapo Lapo” Street Art Studio is a platform for independent and innovative art which brings together all those who think outside the box and push the conventional boundaries of art. Its founders are two “veterans” of street art. Miroslav Petković Modul has been active for 20 years, painting murals around the region and expanding his opus to calligraphy, lettering and typography. Boris Bare is part of the Pimp My Pump art collective, which painted numerous old water pumps in the city turning them into recognisable symbols of Zagreb. Over time he has expanded his activities to numerous city walls, applied arts, as well as other spatial interventions.
Apart from the works by the aforementioned artists, the “Lapo Lapo” studio will also feature works by other authors and street art fans from Croatia and the region.
