A new project - The Month of Creative and Cultural Industries
Between May 16th and June 21st, a total of 30 locations all over the city will be venues for the Month of Creative and Cultural Industries. This new project will feature 25 events that will present twelve sectors of creative and cultural industries to the public.
The Month of Creative and Cultural Industries will take place between May 16th and June 21st. This new project will feature 25 events which will be staged at 30 locations all over the city, and which will showcase the twelve sectors of the cultural and creative industries, from architecture, visual and audio-visual arts, heritage, design, music, applied and performing arts to media, advertising and marketing communications, books and publishing, as well as computer games and new media.
The goal of the project is to promote excellence in the creative and cultural industries, as well as in the economy and society as a whole, and enhance the tourist potential of the city based on its cultural offer. Numerous cultural and creative institutions, such as the Croatian National Theatre, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Academy of Dramatic Arts have joined the project, as have the best known festivals and other happenings, including Animafest, the Week of Contemporary Dance, the World Music Day, the Zagreb Book Festival, Cest is d’Best and many others.
This project will also feature around forty different workshops and lectures on creativity in entrepreneurship and innovations, education about copyright and a unique digital market, as well as understanding culture as a tourism product, to mention but a few. The project will also encompass the 2nd Croatian Summit of Cultural and Creative Industries, Communication Photo Points, Days of New Ideas, projects aimed at linking the cultural and creative industries with the economy, the annual meeting of the EEN network of the sector council of the creative and cultural industries – Enterprise Europe Network, as well as numerous musical performances and other happenings at European Square.
The main initiators of this event, during which Zagreb will experience a month of creativity and culture, are the Croatian cluster of competitiveness of the cultural and creative industries, the Croatian Employers’ Association, the Zagreb Tourist Board, Adria Media Zagreb, the Croatian Composers’ Society, the Academy of Fine Arts, and Creative Industries Styria, while the main partners are the EU Commission Representation Office and the City of Zagreb.
