On June 26th, Dom Sportova will be the venue for a concert by the largest supergroup, Prophets of Rage. The band was formed by members of the rap-metal band Rage Against the Machine and the hip-hop bands Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, and this will be its first performance in Croatia. It will also be their only concert in the region, and so it has attracted a lot of interest since Prophets of Rage have a large fan base in the area.
Most of the band is made up of members of Rage Against the Machine – guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. They are joined by Chuck D and DJ Lord, the frontman and DJ of Public Enemy, as well as the mega popular B Real of Cypress Hill. The Prophets of Rage repertoire also includes some of the best songs by Rage Against the Machine – undoubtedly the most significant crossover band of all time, which has successfully merged rock and hip-hop music.
From the get go, the band has been socially active and involved, with strong leftist convictions, so Tom Morello has explained that its formation was a response to the current political situation in the world, in which major powers – most notably America, are taking a right turn.
