A Series of Musical Treats in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall – Dianne Reeves, the Gypsy Philharmonic Orchestra, the Day of the Csardas Hall and more…
There is too little space to mention everything that awaits the people of Zagreb and their guests in the coming days in the Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall.
Musical treats are lining up as if on a conveyor belt, on a daily basis, and the list of real stars is long and exciting.
It is already time, for example, to think about March and the concert by Dianne Reeves – the best jazz of the 21st century! This five time Grammy award-winner is one of the most prominent jazz singers in the world, a virtuoso and a unique performer. Her first album, “Welcome to My Love”, was released back in 1982 while her most recent album “Beautiful Life” was released three years ago. It takes the listener on a musical journey of twelve songs including covers of “Waiting in Vain” by Bob Marley, “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, “I Want You” by Marvin Gaye and “32 Flavors” by Ani DiFranco. In her long career Dianne Reeves has worked with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She is the first singer to have performed in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. She has received honorary doctorates from the Berklee College of Music and the Juilliard School, the most prestigious musical institutions in the world. Next year she is to be the recipient of the special honour of the United States – the title of Jazz Master!
If March seems too far away, a no less exciting December awaits! Passion and emotion, from classics to csardas, will be brought to us by the Gypsy Philharmonic Orchestra who will delight a Zagreb audience for Advent on 12 December 2017. The orchestra has performed all over the world. The performers play pieces ranging from classics to csardas, always with passion and emotion and without musical scores. An excellent atmosphere with traditional Roma music as well as a series of the greatest works of classical music, that’s what we can expect from these maestros.
Neither is any special invitation required for the Csardas Hall Day – Hungarian Night at Lisinski. This luxuriant and passionate celebration of Hungarian music and art awaits us on 29 December. World renowned artists will take care of an unforgettable musical experience: pianist Ivan Krpan and soprano Lana Kos accompanied by the Croatian Radio Television Orchestra conducted by Ivo Lipanović. They will play the musical treasure by the famous Hungarian virtuoso and composer Franz Liszt, his first concerto for piano and orchestra in E flat major. Passion and emotion brought to us by the best of the Hungarian musical arts, only at Lisinski.
Also on 29 December comes another invitiation you cannot refuse! The Day of the Concert Hall – an invitation to dance! Boom Pacha Boom is a 7-part “old school” band from Zagreb comprising four male members tasked with instrumental accompaniment and three colourful female vocalists with harmonic polyphonic singing. In the lobby of the Great Hall, your feet will dance of their own accord!
