Accordion Fest - Accordion virtuosos performing for you
Between June 11th and 14th, Zagreb’s Zrinjevac Park will be the place of gathering for top class musicians from Croatia and many other countries who will introduce you to the secretive and beautiful sounds of the accordion and encourage you to dance – the tango.
Accordion Fest is the name of the festival which will take place for the fourth year in a row, between June 11th and 14th, at Zrinjevac Park in the city centre, and bring together numerous accordion musicians. Every day between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., globally renowned accordionists from numerous countries, music school students, duets, orchestras and many other fans of accordion music will perform on the accordion – an instrument with an amazing sound and great capability.
The festival is organised by the Ivana Art Studio and professor Dr. Semir Sammy Hasić, the globally renowned artist who performs pieces of classical music on his accordion. Semir Sammy Hasić, a native of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a Zagreb address, graduated from the music academy in Sarajevo and completed the study of composition and conducting at the Hochschule fur Musik in Würzburg in Germany. His music talent is recognised all over the world, and he has performed in numerous cities in Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the United States… His concert in the Vatican was attended by Pope John Paul II, and in 1994 professor Dr. Semir Hasić won the title of the best accordionist in the world at the world accordion competition in Italy. In his career thus far, he has performed with many prominent musicians, including Elton John and Charles Aznavour.
Referred to as the Balkan Mozart, this globally renowned musician and his numerous guests at the Accordion Fest will offer the citizens of Zagreb and the numerous tourists some great entertainment. He will showcase all of the abilities of the accordion as a universal music instrument and perform music of all genres – including Tango, which the visitors of Zrinjevac Park can dance along to.
