An attraction for film buffs - Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival

Numerous fans of science fiction and similar genres can expect a diverse programme at the 6th Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival which will take place between June 30th and July 9th at four locations in the city as well as the Medvedgrad Fort.

After the first five successful editions, the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival, popular among fans of science fiction and similar genres, will once again feature a very interesting programme in its sixth edition. The festival will take place between June 30th and July 9th in the cinemas Europa, CineStar Zagreb and Branimir Centar, as well as at the Tuškanac summer stage. For the finale of one of the most attractive film festivals in the region, the audiences can also look forward to two fantastic film evenings at Zagreb’s Medvedgrad Fort.

The ten day festival will feature screenings of 50 films as part of the familiar programmes such as “Orient Express”, “Panorama”, “Midnight Madness”, “Americana”, “Short Programme”, etc. Apart from that, the very popular “Happy Birthday” programme will feature screenings of genre cult classics including some films made 60 years ago.

The sixth Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival will mark the 75th birthday of the phenomenal Japanese author and global animation legend, Hayao Miyazaki, with screenings of his films “Princess Mononoke”, “Spirited Away” and “My Neighbour Totoro”. The great Japanese author has been involved in the film industry for more than fifty years, and apart from featuring beautiful animation, his films have strong messages about the protection of nature, ethics, morality and a human outlook towards the world.
