Archaeological Museum in Zagreb – Religio et Pietas

From 22 December 2017 to 31 March 2018 visitors to the Archaeological Museum will be able to see the exhibition “Religio et Pietas”.

The aim of the exhibition is to display the exceptionally rich epigraphical legacy of Roman soldiers in Croatia, an epigraphical heritage which illustrates and memorialises their conception of spirituality. The emphasis therefore is not on political or military history but on the lives of those people, the interpretation of numerous written traces that they left behind, in which they speak of themselves, of their beliefs and hopes. Accompanying the exhibition is a bilingual catalogue which contains information on the exhibits and on the whole corpus of memorials, and provides a comprehensive overview of the themes encompassed by the exhibition.
