Ballet Spectacle at Zagreb Arena – The Great Gatsby Ballet

Hot on the heels of the sellout musical Cats, the Zagreb Arena is hosting another spectacle, this time ballet. The Great Gatsby Ballet arrives at the Arena on 14 October.

This is a unique project which encompasses a number of art forms and provides an inimitable experience based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby.

The novel was published in 1925. Its main character, Jay Gatbsy, is a mysterious and wealthy young man troubled by romantic problems. The novel is set in the roaring '20s, a post-war era which was marked in American society by the Prohibition as well as general decadence, burgeoning organised crime and illegal activities.

Fitzgerald's book, and later the film based upon «The Great Gatsby» enjoy cult status. Following the film's success the ballet version arrived, a top class spectacle featuring performances by virtuosos from the world of ballet, theatre and music.

Dwight Rhoden choreographed this show and is also the project's director. This internationally acclaimed artist has worked with a range of stars such as Prince, Lenny Kravitz, U2 and Patrick Swayze. The musical score is by Konstantin Meladze; the leading role is danced by international ballet star Denis Matvienko, national ballet champion from the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg and director of the Russian National Theatre in Novosibirsk. All performances in the European tour of this visual, musical and dance spectacle so far have been sold out.

Due to the size and complexity of the scenery and production there are only 4000 tickets for this performance, which is seated only. You can buy tickets for The Great Gatsby Ballet at all Eventim.hr outlets.
