Dance Evenings on Zrinjevac – Dancing Through Time

From 10 to19 August, every evening from 9 to 11 pm, Zrinjevac Park once again will become a meeting place with the relaxed atmosphere of the Dance Evenings, part of the Zagreb Time Machine project.

Between the 1950s and the 1970s the favourite entertainment of the people of Zagreb was going to a dance. During this period young people grew up in step with worldwide trends and dancing to the rhythm of the most popular pop, rock, jazz and swing hits. Dance Evenings on Zrinjevac bring to life the spirit of those erstwhile Zagreb dances as well as performances by concert bands which were among the symbols of the rich cultural life in the centre of Zagreb. As well as evening dances, there will also be an interesting offering of drinks and desserts.

There will be dancing by the Music Pavilion which has been a famous spot for promenade concerts since 1891. Those dancing shoes will be tapping to the rhythm of the most varied musical genres. There will be swing and rock’n’roll, there will be the Charleston, jive, salsa and tango. The variety of music and entertainment is one of the most wonderful things about this project, which adds dance to the wealth of entertainments on offer in Zagreb in summer. The live music starts every evening at 9 pm. Concerts will be cancelled in bad weather.
