Days of Croatian Tourism - The Zagreb Be There application - innovation of the year
During the Days of Croatian Tourism, held in Poreč in mid-October, the Zagreb Tourist Board received the innovation of the year award for its Zagreb Be There mobile application.
With an array of Croatian and international awards already under its belt, the Zagreb Tourist Board’s Zagreb Be There application won another prize as the innovation of the year at the Days of Croatian Tourism held in Poreč in mid-October. The very popular application, developed as a joint project by the Bruketa&Žinić OM and Brlog agencies, offers tourists eight themed tours which present Zagreb in different ways. Apart from the classic tourist destinations, each of the eight routes reveals lesser known, but equally interesting places in the city. One of the routes, “Space Explorer”, features planets of the Solar System sculpted by Ivan Kožarić and Davor Preis. The “Hidden Spots” route reveals the last well in the Upper Town, an abandoned cemetery on Jurjevska Street and the painted water pump dedicated to Dino Dvornik as part of the “Pimp my Pump” project. The “Indie Zagreb” route includes the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Museum of Street Art and the “Zagreb I Love You” memorial plaque to Tomislav Gotovac on Ilica Street. Apart from introducing the “Refreshing Zagreb” and “Classical Zagreb” routes, last December the Zagreb Tourist Board also expanded their application with the Advent Tour, featuring the most interesting Christmas locations in the city centre. The tour also consists of an array of attractive happenings, which are the reason why Advent in Zagreb attracts increasing numbers of tourists. There are many other interesting features, including the option to record six second videos and publish original videos created with the popular Vine application. It is up to you to select the route, bearing in mind that as of August this year the selection may be even harder as two new routes, Arty Zagreb and New Zagreb, have been added to the application. Famous Croatian artists will reveal their favourite spots in town in the Arty Zagreb route, while the New Zagreb route will provide insight into the city across the Sava River, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, the famous Hrelić flea-market, Bundek Lake, etc. After applying for a selected route, users should virtually check-in at each location they reach while following the map, and once the tour is completed they win awards such as ticket discounts, Zagreb Be There drinking mugs, etc.
The application, featuring all of the eight possible routes can be downloaded from the www.betherezagreb.com microsite or via the QR code found on the flyers which are available at all major tourist spots in the city.
