Dear citizens and guests of Zagreb!

I take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a happy 2016, lots of good health and joy, laughter and love throughout the year. I am happy and proud that our city, the European capital chosen as the best Advent destination in Europe, continues to feature a diverse offer throughout January and that its streets and squares are still full of visitors and tourists from all over the world. Take the opportunity to ice skate at one of the most beautiful ice skating rinks in Europe, and become part of the unforgettable atmosphere at the magical Zrinjevac Park; dance at the cheerful European Square, or travel the world in charming Kurelčeva Street.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our fellow citizens who voted and thus take the credit for Zagreb’s great achievement this year; having been selected as the best Christmas destination in Europe. Zagreb has left behind cities with year-long traditions as destinations for Advent travels. The citizens of Zagreb make it the city it is. With your support of all the events we have prepared for you in the city’s squares and streets, with your cordial welcome, the smiles on your faces and the warm hospitality that you continue to extend our guests, you have made our city a tourist hit in Europe and you deserve a big thank you for that.

I hereby invite you to spend the month of January in the same active and cheerful mood while attending the many musical, cultural and sporting events that vie for your attention.
