Dear citizens and guests of Zagreb!

Throughout the month of August, we have prepared a host of events in our wonderful city of Zagreb which will bring true refreshment to the warm summer days. It is never boring in our city and everybody can find something for themselves. We have endeavoured to put together an impressive choice of happenings for the tourists who visit our city, for those who have decided to spend their summer vacation in Zagreb instead of heading to the coast, and for those who have just returned from their holidays.

This summer the Opatovina Summer Stage will once again be the venue for the 31^st Zagreb Histrionic Summer. Do not miss the opportunity to treat yourself to the unique experience of watching theatre shows under the open sky. If you have the opportunity, visit the Summer on Štross Festival taking place on one of the most romantic promenades in the city. Also, make sure to head to St. Catherine’s Square where you can attend a cinema screening at the 7^th Gradec Summer Cinema. This year the programme will feature a total of 4,444 film minutes on 42 nights under a myriad of stars.  

We invite you to relax during Zagreb Picnic in Maksimir Park. One of the most beautiful European parks is turned into a green oasis every Saturday, and it is the perfect place for children, teenagers, adults, mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers to rest and relax on summer weekends. You can look forward to tasty bites prepared from home grown ingredients, an open-air library for all lovers of light reading, some sports activities, and all of this is set against a backdrop of music selected for you by DJs.

Towards the end of August, there will be something for animal lovers as well. For the eighth consecutive year the Zagreb Zoo will organize an event titled International Bat Night. Between 6 P.M. and 10 P.M. visitors can experience bats up close and personal. They can participate in workshops, games and educational exercises, and be entertained by magicians and musicians. Visitors will see characters wearing costume of witches, vampires and many other quirky and unusual beings, and they will learn all about bats from experts affiliated with associations and organizations involved in the protection and research of bats. International Bat Night has been organized for seventeen years in accordance with the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS).
