Dear citizens of Zagreb, dear visitors!

We welcomed summer months readily and eagerly so we could spend as much time outdoors as possible. July is the perfect time for taking evening walks in our city, enjoying numerous musical and cultural events with a refreshing drink and mingling with many visitors and tourists, whose number increases in summer months. Although many of them go to the seaside, for you we prepared a number of events which made the offer of our city ever richer.

There are several festivals in our offer and we would like to underline the Crossover Festival Zagreb, an international music festival in Ribnjak Park which honours mixing and performing various music genres. It is also special because it allows the audience to get familiar with new cultures and in such a way it strengthens social, positive component of coexistence.  Also let us underline the Rhythm of the Mediterranean festival as an international cultural and tourism manifestation aiming at gathering various cultural, economic and social contemporaries from the Mediterranean countries, regions and cities. The aim is also to show in the best possible way all the diversity and similarities that have connected us and enriched us through centuries. All those interested in the event will have a chance to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, music and art in the centre of Zagreb, which is to become the most entertaining and the tastiest place during five days in July. The festival offers international and local dishes, live concerts, cookery demonstrations, evenings of traditional dances, promotions and wine and beer tasting events, visual art and educational workshops and much more. This year once more, a very eventful programme also awaits numerous fans of science fiction and similar genres at the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival.

During ten unforgettable days in July, visitors will have a unique chance to peer into the Courtyards behind the facades of some of the most beautiful mansions in Zagreb and experience magical ambience of these unique locations in the Upper Town. There will be a lot of good, urban entertainment; you will be able to have a tasty bite, refreshing sip and a good time while listening to the first class musical performers and live music ranging from jazz and classical music to pop.

Gourmands will have a chance to visit the second edition of Plac Mljac – Summer on Trešnjevka farmer’s market. The market will become the setting of “the project with scent and taste”. A unique story, a special atmosphere, a place to spend time and socialize decorated with a lot of imagination, excellent food and beverages, music and concerts, good vibrations and relaxed summer entertainment – all this and much more awaits in early July at the Plac Mljac events.

Bookworms will have a chance to enjoy the 5th Zagreb’s Sea of Books - a beach in Zrinjevac Park. The Sea of Books stimulates the passion for reading and love of books. Every day you can read more than 500 best sellers free of charge and enjoy a unique summer experience with sand, deck chairs and cocktails. 2019 Summer in Zrinjevac brings a rich programme which includes sporting and recreational activities, educational workshops and organised games for children, a chill out zone where you can cool off and rest from relentless summer heat in Zagreb as well as a varied food offer.

July in Zagreb is traditionally the time for folk dancers who will present customs from all Croatian regions as well as many other countries from various continents at this year’s 53rd Zagreb International Folklore Festival.

For all theatre lovers we prepared the 34th Zagreb Histrionic Summer whose shows will take place at the Opatovina Summer Stage and the 10th EXIT Theatre Summer Evenings in the Museum of Arts and Crafts.

Enjoy summer months in our beautiful Zagreb!

Yours faithfully,

Mayor of the City of Zagreb
