Dear citizens of Zagreb, dear visitors!

We are in September; the month in which we all return to Zagreb after summer holiday. While the city is teeming with tourists, the last days of summer bring numerous attractive events. The most notable are marked by gastronomy and film, which also means that our city will not lag behind in terms of its tourist offer.

Foodies and film fans will enjoy the Food Film Festival, an open-air summer gourmet festival dedicated to films in which food plays a leading role. Visitors are guaranteed an unforgettable film and gastro experience which combines two arts – film and culinary arts. Zrinjevac Park will again become the most beautiful and the busiest spot in the city with film screenings under the stars, picnic on the grass, the most famous Zagreb caterers, excellent concerts and so much more. This is a blend of street food specialities, films, music and entertainment. You can also visit the 4th World on a Plate festival in European square; a lively, colourful festival that will celebrate a different culture every day. The finest Croatian homemade food and “štrukli”, a Croatian specialty that will wow you as well as irresistible dishes from North and South America, Turkey, Japan, China, Italy, Austria, Greece, India, Ukraine, Macedonia and even Africa will be on offer.

Following the three extremely successful editions of InDizajn - Modern Home Festival (in Croatian InDizajn – festival modernog doma), preparations are underway for an even richer edition. The event will be held in 5000 square meters of exhibition space in sports hall Arena Zagreb and will gather over 80 exhibitors from the field of interior furnishings, renowned experts and architects. Just like last year, Croatian creatives and product designers whose products are integral to any contemporary home will present themselves in a unique exhibition space – the Bazar. Visitors will also be able to attend one of many workshops, lectures and panel discussions. Like every year, the youngest visitors will be able to enjoy a rich program in the Children’s Corner.

The 12th ZeGeVege festival will take place in Zagreb’s main square and 40,000 visitors are expected to see the record number of a 100 exhibitors’ stalls with healthy food, ecological and sustainable products and cosmetics which have not been tested on animals, both from Croatia and abroad. The aim of the festival is to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable living with a lot of attractions and fun. The concept of the ZeGeVege festival is such that all who visit can find something interesting and spend a pleasant time in this vegan oasis.

In the end I invite you to attend events that have brought us joy the entire summer and that are coming to an end of this year’s edition. Some of them are Summer at Sava River, Summer at the Stross – Strossmartre, Summer at Matoš’, the Gradec Summer Cinema, the Art Park festival and Pop Up Summer Garden.

Yours faithfully,

Mayor of the City of Zagreb

Milan Bandić
