Dear friends and business partners
After Zagreb held its first Festival of Lights last year, becoming one of many European capitals which hold that attractive annual event, this March we shall once again enjoy a light spectacular. The Zagreb Festival of Lights will bring to life the city's streets, squares and facades, once again leading us into spring in a spectacular way.
Zagreb’s museums and galleries promise for art lovers an exceptional year for exhibitions. In the Art Pavilion the exhibition “Emanuel Vidović - On the 65th Anniversary of His Death” brings us many hitherto unknown masterpieces from this great Croatian painter. The Museum of Arts and Crafts, in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb, presents the exhibition “Italian Light” which covers Italian design in the area of household lighting. At the Klovićevi dvori Gallery we are awaiting the opening of the big exhibition “Catherine the Great, Empress of All Russians” from the famous Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. Around 1000 exhibits bear witness to one of the most powerful women in history, presenting the Empress’s passion for art which led her to open the Hermitage. In the area of Croatian-French cooperation in the field of architecture, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, The Archaeological Museum of Istria and the French Embassy in Croatia, in cooperation with the Camille Jullian Centre of the University of Aix-Marseille present the exhibition “Zambratija – the Prehistoric Sewn Boat”. The exhibition presents the results of marine archaeological exploration by Croatian and French partners which led to the discovery of several sewn boats, of which the Zambratija is considered the oldest in the Mediterranean.
Keen travellers will this year make their way to the Zagreb Arena where another Place2go International Exhibition of Tourism awaits. The world will present itself to Croatia, and Croatia to the world, at an exhibition which this year expects more than 180 exhibitors and 15,000 visitors.
Welcome!
Yours,
