Although Zagreb is breaking tourism records every month, and tourists visit it all year round, we can definitely say September is particularly lively and full of new energy. Students return to the city, its citizens return from their summer breaks, and along with them the business people, artists, and, of course, the tourists. Zagreb is once again truly alive…

Although there are many cultural events in the city throughout the year, this month it is the puppets and the people who breathe life into them that deserve a special mention. In September, Zagreb truly becomes the city of puppets, popular theatre plays and exhibitions. We must not forget the sporting competitions featuring globally renowned athletes, some of whom won medals at the Rio Olympics, such as gold medalist discus thrower Sandra Perković from Zagreb.

Although each month is nice in its own right, most people prefer the early autumn in Zagreb. This year, September will justify its status as a dynamic and interesting month with a long list of diverse events in the city. Zagreb will also win you over with the flavours of gastronomic specialties typical of the autumn period, themed events, as well as an excellent everyday offer of food and drinks of Croatian and global cuisines.
