Fusion Faire – A Music and Dance Event in Zagreb for the First Time

Organised by the “Natya – Sound of the Body” society, from 7 – 10 September for the first time the Fusion Faire tribal fusion dance festival will be held.

Fusion Faire is a continuation of the Split Tribal Fest which has been held for the past four years in Split, with over 90 participants from all over Europe and the world. This year the festival is moving to Zagreb. During all four days of the festival dance workshops will be held, led by internationally renowned and acclaimed teachers and artistes: Michelle Sorensen from the USA, a certified teacher known for her flexibility and unique style of dance; Piny Orchidaceae from Portugal, founder and leader of the Urban Tribal Dance Company; Violet Scrap from Italy, known for her unique combination of hip hop and belly dance, founder of the urban fusion festival in Perugia; Lamia Barbara from Italy, renowned leader of Bharatanatyam Indian dance with over 10 years’ experience, and Mat Jacob from Canada, leader and member of the Datura movement led by internationally acclaimed dancer Rachel Brice.

The dance workshops are aimed at anyone who is interested regardless of their experience, from beginners to the advanced level. For more information on registration to the workshops, for applications to appear at the gala show or at the Festival in general please visit www.fusionfaire.com.

The Festival’s closing night, named “Urban Tribes” will take place on 9 September at Zagreb’s Boogaloo Club. World renowned dancers Mat Jacob, Michelle Sorensen, Lamia Barbara, Violet Scrap and Piny Orchidacae will all perform at the gala show together with Croatian tribal fusion dancers. Following the dance section there will be an appearance by special Festival guests Kočani Orkestar, the world-renowned Romani brass ensemble from Macedonia.
