Golden Zagreb - An exclusive concert cycle at the Golden Hall

Featuring performances by numerous top class musicians, the new unique concert cycle, “Golden Zagreb”, has started in the beautiful ambiance of the Golden Hall, one of the most beautiful palaces in the Upper Town.

Do not miss the new “Golden Zagreb” cycle of concerts, a top class cultural event which takes place at the Golden Hall located in one of the most beautiful 19th century palaces in the Upper Town. The three unforgettable music evenings during the premiere edition of this cycle, conceived under the slogan “Concerts of a Special Shine”, will offer visitors performances by “golden” music talents. The entire project has been devised with the goal of promoting the pearl of Zagreb’s Upper Town to the public. It was realised by G.A.D. PRODUKCIJA in cooperation with the Croatian Institute of History, the host of the palace at Opatička 10, while the project is backed by the City Office for Education, Culture and Sport, as well as the Zagreb Tourist Board.

The main initiator of the construction of the “Golden Hall” was the “Father of Modern Zagreb” – Izidor Kršnjavi. In 1891, he started a major undertaking to renovate the Upper Town palace by commissioning the services of the famous architect Herman Bollé and the best painters and sculptors he could find. The result of his vision is one of the most beautiful 19th century palaces, featuring the representative Golden Hall, which has a unique artistic value and an imperial shine.

The new “Golden Zagreb” concert cycle started on September 22nd with a top class performance by alto saxophonist Lovre Merčep and the Ardemus saxophone quartet, and accompanied by Krešimir Starčević on the piano. The second concert is scheduled for October 26th, and it will feature a performance by Srđan Bulat, one of the best guitarists of a younger generation and student of the renowned Royal Academy in London, accompanied by the excellent young pianist and flutist Ana Dadić.

The finale of this exclusive concert cycle, scheduled for November 24th, will feature a performance by a talented young vibraphonist, Šimun Matišić, and top class jazz pianist and composer Matija Dedić.
