KinoKino - An international film festival for children
From now on, children will also have their international film festival – KinoKino, whose first edition will take place at Europa Cinema between March 16th and 20th, and it will feature a diverse film programme for children under the age of fifteen.
Between March 16th and 20th, Europa Cinema will be the venue for the first International Film Festival for Children – KinoKino. Some thirty feature films, aimed at children under the age of fifteen, will be screened during the five-day festival. In addition to the competitive programme featuring recent feature films as well as shorts, there will be two concurrent film programmes: “Classics with the Directors” and “My First Cinema Experience”. After the film screenings, children will have the opportunity to talk to film industry professionals, and there will also be an array of themed workshops for them to take part in.
The competitive part of the program consists of two categories, and the best films will be selected by a professional jury and a jury of children. The professional jury will include the Croatian director of films for children, Daniel Kušan, and Jaroslava Hynštová – the programme coordinator of one of the most significant film festivals for children, the Zlin Film Festival.
In the concurrent program, “Classics with the Directors”, children will have the opportunity to watch the childhood favourite film of directors Vinko Brešan, Danilo Šerbedžija and Antonio Nuić, while the programme “My First Cinema Experience” is aimed at pre-school kids.
The organiser of the first KinoKino Festival, whose goal is to familiarise children with film and make cinema-going a special experience for the new generations of audiences, is the Artistic Organisation of the Zagreb Film Festival.
