LADO: Concert as a Culmination of Celebrating the Seventieth Anniversary of Artistic Activity

Although this entire year is about marking the seventieth anniversary of its artistic activity, the National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia LADO is preparing a concert in late November which will be the culmination of the birthday programme.

LADO, the National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia, started its artistic activity seven decades ago in November, so the concert that will take place on 26 November in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall is dedicated to this jubilee. A rich repertoire has been announced for the concert in the birthday month containing some of the most famous acts which have thrilled audiences not just in Croatia but also around the world. At the concert entitled Anthology III: 70 years of LADO, the audience will get a chance to experience wedding customs of Podravina, customs of north – western Vojvodina, get to know the life of shepherds in western Herzegovina, experience customs associated with harvest in Baranja and many others, all through songs and dances.

LADO ensemble was founded in 1949 and since then it has been researching, gathering, adapting and performing pieces of rich Croatian music and dance tradition. Excellent singers and dancers, top professionals with the knowledge of more than a hundred choreographies and hundreds of instrumental, vocal and dance acts thrill with their perfectly rehearsed performances but also genuine national costumes of exquisite value and beauty.

LADO has performed on stages of some of the world's most prestigious theatres and concert halls, from the Royal Albert Hall in London, to theatres on New York's Broadway, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, as well as in numerous opera houses, at festivals, world exhibitions and the Olympic Games. Due to all this as well as to a mutual connection of LADO and the Zagreb audience, the birthday concert is expected with great interest.
