Museum of Arts and Crafts: Graphics by Edo Murtić
The exhibition Graphics/New abstractions of Edo Murtić, marks the final part of celebrations surrounding the centenary of the birth of one of the most prominent Croatian painters in the second half of the 20th century.
The exhibition of graphics by Edo Murtić (1921 – 2005) will be open until the end of December 2021 in the Museum of Arts and Crafts. In the exhibition the Murtić Foundation displayed the new collection of graphics entitled New abstractions. It contains gouache paintings by Edo Murtić, a great of Croatian painting scene famous for abstract paintings. The paintings were made using the cutting-edge, exclusive technique of DigiGraphics and belong to a limited edition of the Murtić Foundation.
The celebration of the centenary of the artist’s birth finishes with this exhibition which summarizes the activity of the Murtić Foundation. The Foundation was established with the aim of preserving the painter’s heritage. The choice of the Museum of Arts and Crafts as the host of the final event in this important celebration was not accidental; this is the place where in 1990 the biggest exhibition of the artist’s work took place entitled the Retrospective of Edo Murtić 1938 – 1990.
This is the last exhibition before the closure of the building of the Museum which is to undergo renovation after being damaged in the earthquake.
