Organ Vida – International Photography Festival
The ninth Organ Vida festival, under the headline “New Citizens”, will be held in the Museum of Contemporary Arts and in about ten more locations in Zagreb, from 6 to 20 September 2017.
The Organ Vida festival is the largest international photography event in Croatia and the largest festival of contemporary photography in southeast Europe.
On the day of the grand opening of the Festival in the Museum of Contemporary Arts five exhibitions will be open: New Citizens (20 artists from around the world, finalists in a competition on the theme of New Citizens); Pieter Hugo: Verisimilarworlds; The West Africanworks, 2005-2010; Cristina de Middel: Sharkification; Dana Lixenberg: Imperial Courts and the exhibition Photobook from the Kassel Festival: DummyAward and the Jury's Choice.
In the Museum of Contemporary Arts on 9 September there is a Discourse Programme “Beyond the Documentary”. The Organ Vida festival this year for the first time will present the Marina Viculin Award – a special cash prize which will be presented annually in recognition of the work of artists with exceptional achievements in the area of Croatian photography.
Organ Vida is a two-week international photography festival which is held every autumn in Zagreb at a variety of locations. It gathers together young contemporary photographers with a shared aim of progressing artistic and contemporary photographic practice, and a desire to stimulate discussion on key global social and political issues. Interactivity, innovation, creativity and inclusion are at the centre of everything which makes Organ Vida a successful festival – enabling it to become the biggest and most up-to-date annual photography event in southeast Europe.
