Summer in the Museum of Contemporary Arts – the most exciting music, contemporary art and film
That it can be tempting to spend summer Saturdays in the city in the museum will be confirmed for the fourth season in a row by the rich programme Summer in the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The roof of the Museum of Contemporary Art, that very special stage in Zagreb, this summer too offers top class concerts to enjoy. In June Pankrti, Jonathan, Kandžija and Goležene played. July brings Rambo Amadeus and Detour to the rooftop, and on 15 July there is a special surprise guest!
As well as six concerts, as now happens every year, the Museum of Contemporary Art in its Metropolis cinema, in the air-conditioned Gorgona hall, will show every Saturday from 18:00-20:00 one film from the Metropolis cinema cycle. These are the most acclaimed films of the season, e.g.The Russel Girl, Haven, Love & Friendship, Zbogtebe [Because of You], Things to Come.
Ticket prices for the concerts and films from the cycle Best of Metropolis and Summer in the Museum of Contemporary Art include a visit to the exhibition “BracoDimitrijević – A Retrospective”. The exhibition encompasses all the most creative phases of one of the pioneers of conceptual art in the world who from the end of the 1960s until today has had an exceptional international career. The retrospective is laid out over two floors of the Museum’s exhibition space, and brings us work created between the end of the 1970s and the present day, from “Casual Passer By” to the latest work “Lascaux 3000” which recreates the atmosphere of the Lascaux caves with their famous prehistoric paintings.
The unique multimedia programme Summer in the Museum of Contemporary Art, apart from concerts, film screenings from the Best of Metropolis cycle and a visit to the exhibition BracoDimitrijević, this year for the first time includes performances by Croatian artists. Every evening before the concert, in a number of locations around the Museum, visitors will have the chance to be present at performances by Croatian artists. The performances will differ in theme and approach, creating new connections between pop culture and contemporary art, and offering a new dimension to a unique experience.
Tickets for the event Summer in the Museum of Contemporary Art 2017 are on sale via the Eventim system and at the Museum’s reception Tuesdays through Sundays, 11:00-20:00. Tickets to each individual concert are priced at 85 kn.
