The 16th Naj, naj, naj Festival - An international children’s theatre event

The 16th Naj, naj, naj Festival, organised by the Žar Ptica City Theatre, is scheduled to take place between March 18th and 23rd, just before the spring break. It will give children the opportunity to see the best Croatian and international plays performed by children’s theatres.

Between March 18th and 23rd, the Žar Ptica City Theatre is organising the 16th International Naj, naj, naj Festival. During the six days of the children’s festival, which will begin just before the spring break, children will have the opportunity to see ten of the best Croatian and five international theatre plays.

The idea behind the festival was to show the best Croatian theatre plays for children in Zagreb. Ever since it went international in 2007 the festival has been host to numerous theatres from many countries. Apart from the Žar Ptica City Theatre, plays will also be performed on the stages of other theatres in Zagreb, all free of charge, which is the festival’s specific characteristic.

The selection committee received more than 80 applications for this year’s programme and selected ten Croatian and five international plays, one from Bulgaria, Italy and The Netherlands and two from Slovenia. All the plays will be viewed by a panel of expert judges, and during the festival’s closing ceremony the Gold Žar Ptica awards will be presented to winners in ten different categories.

Take your kids to their favourite festival event and give them a glimpse into the world of theatre. Do not forget, however, that the participating theatres tend to be packed during the festival and reservations are not possible, so tickets must be picked up at the theatre box offices an hour before the beginning of the play.
