The Backo Mini Express - The largest Southeast Europe Railways model

Although it was set up just a few months ago, the largest model of Southeast Europe Railways, the Backo Mini Express, has been attracting major interest from the general public and it represents yet another attraction in the city that draws in an increasing number of foreign visitors.

Definitively the largest  model of Southeast Europe Railways,  the Backo Mini Express is a new attraction in Zagreb. It has captivated the interest of an increasing number of visitors from all over Croatia as well as abroad. Since it was set up several months ago, the unique oasis of creativity has been enjoyed by children and adults alike.

The model located at number 4 Gundulićeva Street is the brainchild of a great train enthusiast – Antun Urbić, whose nickname was the inspiration for the name of this unique miniature railway. Several people participated in its construction and created an exquisite Croatian product for all railway aficionados. Since the autumn the model has had an educational purpose as well as it has become a training ground for students in technical and engineering courses, giving the entire project an added value. The project is a true scale-model masterpiece featuring more than a hundred trains that operate up to eight hours a day along more than 1050 meters of tracks and, most importantly – they are never late. In other words, in terms of dimensions and features, it is a representation of real life in 1:87 scale, and it is one of the twenty largest scale-models in Europe.

The Backo Mini Express model of Southeast Europe Railways can be seen every Friday and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Ticket prices for adults are HRK 15, while the admission fee for children is HRK 10.
