The best known anonymous band - The Residents at Močvara
The best known unknown band in the world, The Residents, which features an anonymous line up of musicians who perform wearing masks, will hold a concert on February 4th at the Močvara Club, where they will be promoting their latest studio album – “Shadowland”.
On February 4th, the Močvara Club will be the venue for a performance by The Residents, one of the best known anonymous bands in the world. Although the band has been active for more than 40 years, to this day it still remains unknown who the actual musicians are because they perform wearing masks. Their recognizable attire includes “eyeball” masks and black suits, which makes them fairly mysterious and forces the audience to focus on the music itself.
The band was founded in 1969 in San Francisco, and has thus far released more than sixty albums. The band pioneered various music genres, such as punk, electronic music, techno, world music, etc., and their music inspired the work of diverse bands, including Devo, Primus, Talking Heads, Ween, Mr. Bungle, They Might Be Giants, Animal Collective, Yello, Public Image Ltd and many others.
The Residents will hold their concert at the Močvara Club as part of their tour promoting their latest studio album – “Shadowland”. The album is the third part of the “Randy, Chuck & Bob” trilogy, and its release was followed by a release of the film “Theory Of Obscurity: A Film About The Residents”, which researches the phenomenon of the band. The movie features Matt Groening, the author of the cult animated series “The Simpsons”, who is supposedly a major fan of The Residents. However, who can guarantee that he is not a member of the anonymous collective?
Tickets for The Residents concert cost 120 kuna each in pre-sales, while on the day of the concert the ticket price will be 150 kuna. Apart from the box office of the Močvara Club, tickets can also be purchased at the Dirty Old Shop and the Rockmark bookstore, which also sell them online via their websites.
