THE CROATIAN-TURKISH SOCIETY OF FRIENDS CULTURAL INFORMATION CENTRE OPENS

The Croatian-Turkish Society of Friends cultural information centre is now open at Savska cesta 28.

The Society was founded in 1994 and has been promoting Croatian and Turkish cultural, educational, scientific, political and sporting relations for 23 years now. In its new space small exhibitions and concerts will be held, as well as book presentations and lectures. Events such as Turkish Film Week will continue to be organised in larger spaces due to the ever-growing level of public interest. Turkish Film Week this year, for the sixth time, will be held in May, (16-21 May to be precise), in Kino Europa.

One of the aims of the Society is for Croatian cultural projects to be presented in Turkey and the Society will provide support in that, partly through its presence in Istanbul which it has had for two years now. This year is the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and Turkey and to mark the occasion the project Musical Bridges has been conceived. Five or six Croatian piano compositions, and five or six Turkish compositions, all performed by brilliant musicians, will appear together on a CD. The project will be presented at two large concerts in October this year, one in Ankara or Istanbul and the other in Zagreb.
