The Marija Jurić Zagorka Association - Partner in the European project of lifetime training of tour guides

The Marija Jurić Zagorka Association is the Croatian partner in “Innoguide 2.0”, the European project of lifetime training of tour guides. The association has been invited to participate in the project thanks to the very popular sightseeing tour of Zagreb it has devised.

The Marija Jurić Zagorka Association is the Croatian partner in “Innoguide 2.0”, the European project of lifetime training of tour guides, which is financed by “Erasmus+”, a program for education, youth and sports. The Croatian partner has received the invitation to join the project owing to its active role in training Zagreb’s city guides and thanks to its popular “Stroll with Zagorka” tour, led by a guide playing the role of the great Croatian writer taking tourists sightseeing. The project has been ongoing for two years and it is a continuation of the existing “Innoguide Tourism” project of lifetime training for tour guides, which was commended by the European Commission and now also includes a partner from Croatia. The project is spearheaded by the Tourist Board of Flanders in Belgium, and apart from the Croatian partner it also involves several schools and organisations from the Netherlands, Denmark and Finland. The goal of the project is to raise awareness among tour guides and their organisations, and to upgrade the already existing free online platform for tourist guide training.

Throughout its entire duration the project will feature tour guide training workshops in the fields of experience and sustainable guidance, as well as the topic of the intercultural aspects of tour guidance, since the previous project indicated that tour guides lack exactly this sort of knowledge. Apart from training, the project will also feature the development of tools that will serve tour guide associations, organisations and agencies to improve their activities, raise the quality of their services and their visibility on the market.

The project’s internet page features a free e-platform for education and intriguing stories from the world of tour guides, as well as other interesting information about the project, which the Marija Jurić Zagorka Association will present through engaging workshops and sightseeing tours of Zagreb.

If you are interested in partaking in the project, or you would like to find out more about it, you can send an email to innoguide.hr@gmail.com, while all news about the project can be found online at www.innoguidetourism.eu

February 21st is the International Day of Tour Guides, and free sightseeing tours of the city will be organised for all citizens and visitors of Zagreb.
