The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum - Interactive educational astronomy workshops

If you are an astronomy fan, or if your children seem keen to learn something about it, make sure to take them to the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, where interesting, interactive educational workshops are taking place until January 22nd. There will be the opportunity to make models of planets, maps of the starry skies and much more.

Until January 22nd, the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum will be the venue for the interactive education workshops and lectures – The Solar System. The educational programme is adaptable and a there is a wide array of topics on offer. Workshops are available for various age and interest groups, from individual visitors, pre-school and school children, to astronomy associations.

The one hour workshops offer attendees the opportunity to make models of the sun, the solar system, a solar clock, planets with asteroid satellites and miniature planets, the Earth, the moon, maps of the stars, maps of the moon, maps of the winter skies and the surface of the moon with the formation of its craters.

The goal of these workshops is to popularise astronomy, introduce attendees to basic astronomy terminology, and inspire a desire and interest in learning through an interactive approach. Astronomy as a science brings together human sciences, natural history and technology, thereby representing a synthesis of various branches of science and know-hows.

The workshops are headed by a pedagogue with a lot of experience in popularising science, professor Višnja Srdelić. Apart from the aforementioned workshops, during this action the museum’s cinema and planetarium will feature lectures and discussions about astronomy topics headed by Ante Radonić and Zvonimir Drvar.

Individually, or in a group, all workshop participation must be announced in advance via telephone, 01/ 4844-050 or 01/4881-639, or by email mario.mirkovic@tmnt.hr.

Workshops are organised from Tuesday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., while lectures at the planetarium take place between noon and 4 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, workshops begin at 10 a.m. and lectures at noon.
