The Zagreb Time Machine - Dance Evenings at Zrinjevac

Every day between August 5th and 14th, dance evenings will take place in Zrinjevac Park. This year, they will be special and they will provide a lot of fun for many generations

If dancing is your thing, put on your dance shoes and head for Dance Evenings at Zrinjevac Park. Every day between August 5^th and 14^th, dancing will take place to the rhythms of swing, rock and roll and 20^th century dance music;  contemporary sounds will also be played to cater to the taste of younger generations. 

Dance Evenings at Zrinjevac follow the tradition of once popular dance halls and brass band concerts which took place in the heart of the city as part of Zagreb’s rich social life. Dance Evenings are part of the Zagreb Time Machine project organized by the Zagreb Tourist Board. This August, the Music Pavilion which has been standing in Zrinjevac since 1891 and which has gained fame as a venue for promenade concerts, will be a fitting backdrop for as many as ten concerts by various music bands. 

Although the musical sounds of past times will take many back to the romantic moments they experienced in Zrinjevac Park, the organizers have made sure that younger generations find Dance Evenings equally attractive. The Beach Loau programme will offer Hawaiian atmosphere and tropical house music perfect for summer evenings. There will also be two Gatsby evenings which will fill Zrinjevac Park with Charleston dance music and conjure up the atmosphere of Fitzgerald’s popular novel. But there is even more: fans of fast beats can look forward to three special evenings filled with the rhythms of swing, salsa and tango.

All that moving to the beat is bound to make everybody hungry and thirsty but refreshments will be close at hand. An imaginative offer of drinks and tasty bites sold from tastefully decorated stands will recreate the spirit of past romantic times.
