Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall: the Ukrainian Classical Ballet Troupe to Perform Ballets Carmen and Scheherazade
Mutual chemistry between the Zagreb audience and the Ukrainian Classical Ballet has been confirmed by the recent success of as many as four sold-out performances of The Nutcracker. It will continue with the new ballet performances Carmen and Scheherazade.
On 16 February the Ukrainian Classical Ballet troupe will perform two ballet one-act performances, Carmen by Georges Bizet and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, in the Vatroslav Lisinki Concert Hall. This will provide an opportunity to the Zagreb audience to experience two dramatic love stories dedicated to two exceptional and admirable women in one evening. These are stories that belong to different cultures and are told in different ways, even though both are illustrated with emotion-packed moves of excellent dancers of the Ukrainian Classical Ballet. There are temperament rhythms of Carmen which was set to music by Georges Bizet and whose arrangement and ballet adaption were done by Rodion Shchedrin and the choreography devised by Alberto Alonso. On the other hand there are moves filled with emotion illustrating the story about Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the choreography for which is the work of Mikhail Fokine.
The Ukrainian Classical Ballet has given this performance around 50 times on the stages of Mexico, Brazil and Poland.
