The second Zagreb Calling will again be host to global music stars. The headliner of the two-day open air festival, which will take place at Šalata Stadium on the 22nd and 23rd of June, is one of the greatest bands of all time, the legendary Simply Red. Audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy a performance by a new global star, British soul singer John Newman, on the second day of the festival.
Simply Red are visiting Zagreb as part of their large world tour, in which they are performing their timeless hits as well as promoting their latest studio album, “Big Love”. Thus far, the band has sold more than sixty million albums, and their set-list, which is laden with classic hits such as “Something Got Me Started”, “Stars”, “Holding Back The Years”, “If You Don't Know Me By Now”, “Say You Love Me”, “Money's Too Tight To Mention”, “Fairground”, “Sunrise” and many other songs, has left a major trace on the global music scene. Simply Red held their last concert in Zagreb thirty years ago, so the announcement of their arrival has caused quite a stir among the band’s numerous fans.
On the first day of Zagreb Calling there will also be a performance by one of the best singers in Croatia, Natali Dizdar, who has released two studio albums during her very successful twelve year career. Apart from her, a performance by the band Jinx, which has released six studio albums thus far and is considered one of the best Croatian pop bands in the last twenty years, has also been announced. After their performance in Zagreb, along with Simply Red, Natali Dizdar and Jinx will hold a concert on June 23rd at Belgrade Calling.
The second day of Zagreb calling will be marked by a performance by the talented British soul singer John Newman. It will be his first concert in Zagreb, and he will present his new album “Revolve”, released towards the end of last year. John Newman is a relatively new star on the global music scene, and he gained global fame with his debut album, “Tribute”, which went platinum. Hits such as “Love Me Again”, “Losing Sleep”, “Out Of My Head” and “Cheating” conquered the global charts, while songs from his new album, such as the single “Come and Get It”, also have very wide listenership around the world.
John Newman writes, sings and produces his own music, as well as directs his own music videos.
