The month of January saw exceptionally intense tourist activity. A number of events and novelties in the tourist and cultural offers of Zagreb herald a dynamic year ahead of us. The first month of the year was marked by concerts, theater performances and sporting events of international significance, such as the recently held European Figure Skating Championship, which were an overture leading into the dynamic tourist period that lies ahead.

Towards the end of this year, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall will mark a notable anniversary – 35 years of work, during which it has built not only a rich music and stage repertoire, but also the status of a powerful and influential cultural institution which has organized some of the top cultural events in Zagreb.

The Most Eminent Documentary Film Festival in the Region
ZagrebDox is an international documentary film festival and competition which has been taking place in Zagreb for four years. The underlying idea behind its launch was to raise people’s awareness of the long documentary film making tradition in South Eastern Europe.

Samobor Fašnik (Carnival)

Samobor is a tourist town some twenty kilometers west of Zagreb. Part of its rich tradition and one of its idiosyncrasies is certainly the Samobor Fašnik. On 25 January this year, somewhat earlier than usual, Samobor will become a Free Carnival Republic for the 182nd time in its history.
