Krpice sa zeljem – pasta with stewed fresh cabbage

Ah, the good old homemade krpice sa zeljem. Often prepared by our mothers and grandmothers, it is now our turn to make them for our loved ones.

A simple pasta dough, with or without eggs, fresh cabbage and a little love during preparation! Everyone will love them... Enjoy!

Ingredients for 4-6 persons:

1 and ½ onion

700 g fresh young cabbage

400 g fresh lasagne pasta

100 g smoked bacon

Also:

Vegetable oil

Salt and ground black pepper

Preparation:

Chop bacon and onions, cut dry pasta into squares, slice fresh cabbage into strips. Fry chopped bacon in heated olive oil until crispy. Set the bacon aside, add more olive oil to the frying fat, add onions, salt and fry until golden-yellow. Then add some more olive oil, add sliced cabbages and a little water. Simmer over a medium flame. In the meantime, add the cut pasta into a pot with salted boiling water and cook according to instructions found on the packaging. When done, drain the pasta and move it to the bowl containing the stewed cabbages and onions. Mix the ingredients and move them to a serving plate. Cover with fried bacon, season with freshly ground pepper and serve hot.

I am looking forward to Zagreb as a destination where I always feel good. It seems it has been too long since the last time I was here, although it was just a year or so.

Jesse Eisenberg (actor) spent the autumn in Zagreb in 2007: Zagreb is an incredible town. I enjoyed sightseeing the old parts of the town, and at night I went to clubs. I was thrilled that it was near Austria and Italy, so I visited Venice, Milan, Ljubljana, Graz, Split... over the weekends.
