ZagrebDox: Open Invitation to the Fans of Documentaries
This year ZagrebDox again displays some of the best achievements in documentary film production, selected among a competition that has never been stiffer.
The 19th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival ZagrebDox, which was selected as one of few elite world festivals by the European Film Academy, will take place from 26 March to 2 April.
The selection team of this year’s ZagrebDox has had a very difficult and responsible task to choose the films to be shown at this year’s festival among as many as 1500 submissions. The fact that there are 15 movies competing for one place in the festival programme proves how numerous the submissions are.
Due to stiff competition, selectors decided to reintroduce popular programmes entitled “Music Globe” and “Happy Dox” while the other programmes are filled to their capacity.
It has become a tradition to screen most rewarded documentaries from the previous season, such as "All the Beauty and the Bloodshed" by Laura Poitras which won a Golden Lion in Venice. Audience will also have a chance to see the most recent films that will have their world premiere in the period leading to the opening of ZagrebDox, such as the film “Eastern Front” by Vitaly Mansky, whose premiere took place at this year’s Berlinale.
ZagrebDox continues its dedication to Croatian documentary films by screening around twenty most recent Croatian films.
The screenings will take place in five cinema halls of the Kaptol Boutique Cinema & Bar. They are accompanied by an eventful programme, talks with authors, topic discussions and other events.
