A diverse programme of theatre and concerts

This year the Amadeo Stage has once again prepared a diverse programme of theatre events and concerts, which will ensue throughout the summer in the attractive atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town. This year is the twelfth edition of the event, which features, on average, some sixty plays and concerts of classical, jazz and ethno music, performed by renowned artists from Croatia as well as abroad.

This year’s edition will take place until July 31st and will continue, after a short break, on August 13th until September 3rd. Part of the attraction of this event is the venue – the atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum – the architecture and acoustics of which are perfect for hosting theatre plays and concerts. The centre of the atrium, fully renovated by the Amadeo Stage in 2003, is dominated by a “stone-map” of Croatia, consisting of 2500 stone plaques gathered from all over the country. The atrium is tiled with characteristic Croatian stone, while the courtyard contains a unique geological post. Based on the idea of the famous Croatian pianist, Ivo Pogorelić, the atrium also features floor and wall lighting, which was strategically placed according to the needs of both the museum and the Amadeo Stage.

Over the past eleven years, 589 plays, concerts and film projections, as well as numerous exhibitions have taken place within the framework of this event. Plays for adults as well as children begin at 10 a.m. each day, weather permitting.
