A Marketing Award Arrives from Beijing

The Zagreb Tourist Board is the recipient of a prestigious award, bestowed by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute: a bronze medal for marketing, which was won at the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market Fair in Beijing.

At the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market Fair, which was held during mid-April in Beijing, the Zagreb Tourist Board received a prestigious Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award – CTW 2011, a bronze medal in the marketing category. Amidst fierce competition, the Zagreb Tourist Board won an award in one of the seven different categories: Marketing, Product Innovation, Internet/Media, Service Quality, Social Media Marketing, Retail, and Overall Performance in the Chinese Market. The recognitions were awarded by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), which is based in Germany. PhD Amelia Tomašević received the award in Beijing, on behalf of the Zagreb Tourist Board, from the Director of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt.

The Zagreb Tourist Board is very active in the Chinese market; ten years ago, it published the first Chinese language brochure. Moreover, in cooperation with Chinese citizens, who either reside in Zagreb or have visited in the past, the Tourist Board has released several short films regarding the way they see Zagreb, and the aspects of the city that they like the best. At the Tourist Board’s initiative, Zagreb now has its first licensed Chinese speaking tour guide. At the recent International Tourism Trade Fair CroTour, which was held at the grounds of the Zagreb Fair, a seminar with lecturers from China was organized for Zagreb's travel agents and hoteliers.
