A new image brochure of Mirogoj
Zagreb has recently got the first printed publication that provides an in-depth look into Mirogoj, the best known cemetery in Zagreb, and its rich cultural and historic heritage. This new brochure also answers the question as to why this cemetery is one of the most attractive tourist landmarks in the city.
Since many of Zagreb’s guests wish to visit the final resting places of some of the greatest personalities from Croatian history on their regular city tours, the Zagreb Tourist Board has created a new brochure precisely for those guests. The brochure provides images and historical facts about Mirogoj, Zagreb’s best known cemetery, which is also one of the most popular tourist landmarks in the city due to its magnificence, as well as its great cultural and historical significance.
The brochure was published in cooperation between the Zagreb Tourist Board and the M14 Ltd production house, and it represents the first publication that provides an in-depth look into the most famous cemetery of Zagreb and its rich heritage. For now 30,000 copies of the brochure have been printed in two languages, Croatian and English, but next year it will be translated into four more languages: Spanish, French, Italian and German.
The main feature of the brochure is the list of 89 famous individuals from Croatian history, who have found their final resting place at Mirogoj. Among them are the famous opera singer, Milka Trnina; the best known female Croatian journalist, Marija Jurić Zagorka; renowned authors, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, Ljudevit Gaj, and August Šenoa; opera composer and conductor, Jakov Gotovac; and an array of heroes captured in eternity on the “Monument to the fallen Croatian Soldiers of the First World War” and on the Wall of Pain.
The brochure will be distributed via the network of international offices of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Croatian diplomatic and consular offices, tourist information centres of the Zagreb Tourist Board, and at numerous fairs and presentations in Croatia as well as abroad.
In terms of its format and context, the “Mirogoj” brochure complements the existing promotional materials of Zagreb whilst providing a quality and up-to-date description all of the features of this historic, cultural and tourism jewel; not only of Zagreb, but all of Croatia.
