A Representative Exhibition by Edo Murtić

Between February 23rd and March 28th, Zagreb’s Art Pavilion will be presenting the works of renowned Croatian contemporary artist, Edo Murtić. The exhibition will feature more than two-hundred works with the theme of war, which were created in the early 1990s.

This year’s exhibition season at the Art Pavilion will begin with the opening of a large presentation of works by contemporary Croatian painter, Edo Murtić.

 The exhibition will remain open between February 23rd and March 28th, and the public will have an opportunity to see more than two-hundred works with the theme of war, which were created in the early 1990s. Those works, which the artist painted during the Croatian Homeland War, will be presented to audiences for the first time on such a large scale.
 

The exhibition will feature numerous gouaches and drawings from his known cycles “Skeletons” and “Wires from the Camp”, gouaches from the cycle called “Eyes of Fear”, and sketches of a graphic map “The Pit” from 1982.
Considering that the artist’s great popularity will certainly attract numerous visitors, apart from presenting works, the exhibition will also feature an array of surprises and events prepared by the organizers.


Edo Murtić was born in 1921 and held his first independent exhibition in 1935 in Zagreb. Since then, until his death in 2005, he exhibited at more than 150 independent exhibitions, and some 300 joint exhibitions, worldwide.
His works form part of some of the most significant, private as well as public, collections across the globe. Apart from painting, Edo Murtić also worked in graphic design and theatre set-design.
