Enjoy the Acoustic Circus

This year, the festival will focus on the phenomenon of acoustic circus so the shows will largely rely on auditory contents, be it speech, music or sound generated in many other ways.

This year, the International Festival of New Circus, which is to take place between 20 and 25 November, will revolve around the phenomenon of acoustic circus, the main focus of this unusual festival.

The Festival of New Circus promotes all forms of physical and non-verbal theater. It was conceived as a place for Croatian performers, whose obvious role models are well known international performers, to come together. The festival, the brainchild of the Little Performers’ Scene, was organized for the first time in 2005.

As in the previous two years, this year will see performances by numerous professional and amateur circus, theater, dance and performers’ groups which are inclined towards somewhat informal types of new circus forms.

This year’s festival will focus on the phenomenon of acoustic circus. That is why we can expect performances which will offer strong visual images but will also equally communicate strong auditory contents, be it speech, music or sound generated in other ways. A few of the phenomena one can expect that are inherent to the circus of sound are various types of communication patterns, performers who are the generators of sound, as well as musicians who are performers and sources or conveyors of sound. These people are all present on the stage and are an essential part of the action. Despite the thematic focus, the festival will also include performances which do not revolve directly around the issue of sound. However, these will be quality performances that contribute to the continuous growth of the new Croatian circus.
