Hardcore Sounds in Boćarski dom – Body Count

One of the world’s greatest bands, Body Count from Los Angeles, coming to Zagreb after more than 20 years

Pioneers of crossover, one of the greatest bands which combined hip hop and metal, the legendary Body Count from Los Angeles will be playing Zagreb’s Boćarski dom on 19 June. It will be their first concert in Croatia since 1997. Body Count was formed by Ice T together with lead guitarist Ernie C. Ice T, apart from rap, was a great fan of hard rock and heavy metal in his youth, as were a group of his friends from high school in Crenshaw, a neighbourhood in southern LA. During the 1980s Ice T became a big name on the hip hop scene, and at the beginning of the 1990s he also focused on a band which he had formed with friends from high school. Who can forget his debut album and the controversial single “Cop Killer”, or the no-less risqué “KKK Bitch”, “Evil Dick”, “Momma’s Gotta Die Tonight”, “There Goes the Neighbourhood” or “Body Count’s in the House”? The album roused the whole of white America, from President Bush and the senators to Charlton Heston, and in the end was withdrawn for “Cop Killer” to be replaced by a somewhat less problematic version of the song titled “Freedom of Speech”. Body Count have had their ups and downs, but not only have they lasted the test of time, today they are one of the most popular live attractions on the planet. A cult following has always awaited them at concerts around the world.
