Hostel Reopens on 1 April
No, this is not an April Fool’s Day prank. The Youth Hostel in Zagreb is to reopen its door on the 1st of April after partial renovation.
The renovation of the biggest hostel in Zagreb, situated on Petrinjska Street and operating under the umbrella of the Croatian Youth Hostel Association, should be completed by 20th March and the hostel should reopen its doors after a few final touches and one last once-over.
The biggest hostel in Zagreb, conveniently situated in the heart of the city, only a few minutes’ walk from the main square of Ban Josip Jelačić, will start receiving guests on the 1st of April and offering them a higher standard of accommodation. All the bathrooms in the hostel will have been modernized as well as all the rooms on the fourth and fifth floors, a total of 22 rooms, four doubles with en-suite bathrooms, 10 six-bed rooms also with en-suite bathrooms, and two three-bed and three doubles without en-suites.
The remaining rooms will be renovated during the second phase of the reconstruction project, which should take place at the end of November this year. The furniture will be changed completely and the old bed linens will be replaced by new.
The hostel in Petrinjska has a total of 210 beds.
But it is far from being the only one in Zagreb. Hostel guests whose numbers, incidentally, are on the rise, can find accommodation in a number of other, privately run hostels whose quality matches the standards of similar facilities Europe-wide. The most recently opened private hostel, Carpe Diem, is in the Medveščak neighborhood, in close proximity to the city center. The hostel has three rooms, two with six beds and one with four beds, each of them decorated differently. Strong, but harmonious colors dominate the interior, and the hostel is furnished with restored stylish old furniture. Besides the bedrooms, the hostel also has an outdoor area, a common room with internet access and a TV set, a place to have a drink and socialize with the other guests.
In addition to this little but quality hostel, Zagreb offers some other similar facilities. Fulir Hostel Zagreb is in the very center of the city in Radićeva Street. A bit further from the center is Ravnice Hostel in the Ravnice neighborhood in the eastern part of the city. MGM Hostel is in the western neighborhood of Kajzerica and there are two hostels near the main bus station – Lika and Fala.
All the facilities fully meet the wishes and requirements of young hostel guests and in every one of them, tourists can obtain all the information which will help them make the most of their time in the Croatian capital.
