Introducing Aida of Vienna

Zagreb has always been famous for an impressive assortment of excellent cakes. It will soon offer yet another treat to all its citizens with a sweet tooth – the Austrian café bar and pastry shop chain Aida will open its doors in the Croatian capital.

The Viennese Aida, the synonym for the Austrian “sweet” tradition for many, will soon open the doors of their 300 square metre establishment in the most attractive location in Zagreb – the main square of Ban Josip Jelačić.

Despite the fact that the number of traditional cafes is on the fall due to a surge in the development of modern internet cafes, Zagreb still remains true to the tradition of typical Viennese cafes. Aida will undoubtedly contribute to their popularity and give an additional boost to the revival of such establishments in the Croatian capital. Currently, Aida has 27 establishments in Vienna and its surroundings alone, while they are planning major development in the rest of Austria and abroad. The company’s development plan includes expansion into other Austrian provinces as well as abroad, with Zagreb as the first step in that direction.

The choice of Zagreb is certainly not random since cake-making in the Croatian capital and its numerous cafes has been strongly influenced by the patisserie traditions of the Habsburg Empire, so it is realistic to expect that Aida will quickly become Zagreb’s favourite destination for all those with a sweet tooth.
