Mark Knopfler in Zagreb
Mark Knopfler, one of the best guitarists and rock musicians in the world and the onetime front man of the legendary group Dire Straits, will present his new album “Kill to Get Crimson” at a concert in Zagreb’s Dom Sportova Sports Hall.
After twenty years of waiting, on June 9th at Dom Sportova, the onetime front man of the cult rock band Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, will hold a concert in Zagreb as part of his European tour in which he is promoting his new album, “Kill to Get Crimson”.
Known as the voice and guitar of the legendary band Dire Straits, for which he wrote all the songs, Mark Knopfler continued a solo career, affirming himself as a successful musician even after the band’s breakup in 1995. Knopfler was also involved with various other projects while still a part of the band, such as composing film scores and doing production work for famous musicians like Bob Dylan and Tina Turner. His style is oftentimes described as Classic Rock with a noticeable Country influence, as well as having elements of Irish and Scottish folk melodies and subtle Blues undertones. Today, Mark Knopfler is considered one of the best guitarists and rock musicians of all times. He is a holder of two honorary music doctorates which he gained at the universities of Newcastle and Sunderland, while in 1999 he was named an honorary Officer of the British Empire. Throughout his solo career, Mark Knopfler has released five studio albums and eight movie soundtracks.
