Sljeme, the highest summit of Medvednica Mountain which the city leans on, is a favourite excursion point in every season. In summer it provides a relief from the heat, in winter it offers ski slopes, and throughout the year it is an excellent spot to enjoy nature and recreation as well as catering offer. It is easily accessible by bus, cable car or, for those more ambitious, on foot.
In addition to numerous hiking trails of various lengths and levels of difficulty, there are numerous natural attractions of the Medvednica Nature Park and other interesting activities. A new addition is a viewpoint with a wonderful view of the entire Zagreb, region of Croatian Zagorje and neighbouring Slovenia.
The viewpoint is located at the altitude of 1118 metres, on the 83rd floor of the tower and it is the highest tourist attraction of Zagreb. The basic purpose of the tower, built in 1976, it to broadcast television and radio signal. The renovation of the exterior started in 2019 motivated by a wish to reopen door of the viewpoint to visitors and in future of other facilities of the tower.
In addition to an open terrace which is already in function, the opening of the enclosed part of the terrace to the public as well as an area suitable for various business, ceremonial and private events is expected this summer. On weekends there will also be attractive activities for visitors such as organised promotions, tastings and similar.
The viewpoint is easily accessible by visitors of Sljeme because it is just fifty metres away from the top station of the cable car.
