New Croatian Novel
This year's Zagreb Book Fair focuses on the new Croatian novel. To give a boost to Croatian culture, for the first time, a literary award will be handed out under the name "roman@tportal.hr" to the best Croatian novel published in 2007.
A total of 150 publishers will present their books at the Fifth Zagreb Book Fair which will be held between 6 and 19 May at the Profil Megastore Bookstore. The topic of this year's fair is the new Croatian novel. Many new titles will be presented to visitors through the impressive program of book presentations and literary gatherings. For the first time ever, a literary award will be handed out to the best Croatian novel published in 2007. The award is named «roman@tportal.hr» and part of the prize is 100,000 Kuna. The Profil Megastore bookstore has always promoted Croatian culture and they hope that this T-portal sponsored award will give a new impetus to the new Croatian novel.
Many international authors have been invited to make guest appearances at the Fifth Zagreb Book Fair. They will promote their books and participate in book presentations, round tables and discussions on various literary topics. A total of 150,000 people are expected to visit this year's fair. During the fair, books will be sold at a discount of 20 per cent the normal retail prices.
