New Tourist and Business Fair to be Launched in Zagreb

The Zagreb Fair has teamed up with the tourist industry in preparing the launch of the tourist and business fair, Crotour 08, which is to take place between 7 and 11 May. It is the organizer’s ambition to develop this new event into the most significant international fair in the region.

Between 7 and 11 May, an international fair will be held on the grounds of the Zagreb Fair under the name of Crotour 08. The new fair is intended for members of the tourist industry and the general public. “This is a pilot project which should develop into the biggest national tourist fair,” said Katja Luka Kovačić, Director of the Zagreb Fair, at a meeting of the tourist industry of Zagreb. The meeting was hosted by the Zagreb Fair in cooperation with the Zagreb Tourist Board. Besides hoteliers and tourist agents, the meeting was attended by the representatives of museums and other cultural institutions that put forth some very constructive proposals for the organization of the fair.

The Crotour tourist and business fair has been conceived as a place where the Croatian tourist offer will be presented to Croatian clients and foreign tour operators and tourist agencies. It will consist of two parts. The first will be business-oriented and intended as a platform for business meetings between tourist agencies and tour operators from the country and abroad; between the owners of hotels, marinas, camps and other tourist facilities and potential investors in the tourism industry; between golf course owners and developers and golf clubs and manufacturers of golf equipment and users of tourist services. The second part is intended for the general public and should be centered on the domestic buyer as the high-quality consumer. “So far, we have sent out a total of one thousand invitations to the addresses of tour operators and foreign partners inviting them to participate in the fair,” said the Crotour Fair Director Darko Grgurić and added that the exhibition space would be offered to the exhibitors at highly competitive prices.

“The capital of Croatia needs to have a tourist fair of regional significance,” said Mrs. Amelija Tomašević, PhD., Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board. She agreed that a strong fair could not be created overnight, but that all the conditions had been put in place for its successful launch. The Zagreb Fair does not hide its ambition to make Crotour not only the biggest tourist fair in Croatia but also the most significant international fair in the general region.
