Ninety films in seven programmes
The jubilee 10th edition of the Zagreb Film Festival will take place at several different locations in the city from 14 to 21 October. Audiences will be able to see any of the 90 films in seven different programmes and enjoy various concurrent events.
The 10th edition of the Zagreb Film Festival will be taking place between 14 and 21 October at several venues in Zagreb: in the cinemas Europa, Tuškanac, Grič and Dokukino Croatia, and in the Zagreb Dance Centre, which will be turned into an attractive cinema theatre during the festival week. A part of the program will also be shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art. Some 90 films will be shown in seven programs. On average, the festival's screenings are seen by around 30,000 viewers.
The main competition programme of the festival will present new first or second films by international directors: eleven long feature films, ten short feature films and some fifteen documentary films. The films will be competing for the Golden Pram Awards in their respective categories. Besides its international program, the festival will also present Checkers, the national short film competition program. In order to boost and promote Croatian film production it will include a dozen films made by new Croatian authors.
Applications for the national programme may be submitted by 15 August at www.zagrebfilmfestival.com, whereas the deadline for submissions in the main category was 15 July.
As in previous years, the festival's main programme will be accompanied by three regular side programs: Bib for Kids – films (mostly European) for children; My First Film programme, inspired by Stephen Lowenstein's book of the same title which will present five first films by acclaimed international directors; and Great 5, a program that includes topical films by five great European cinematographies.
Every year the Zagreb Film Festival presents a few additional, predominantly educational programmes as well as others realized in cooperation with the most relevant short film festivals. There will be a number of concurrent events such as photo exhibitions, presentations of other film festivals, lectures, book promotions, etc.
