Pay your Fare by Mobile
In addition to paying for car parking via SMS text, as of recently, passengers riding on Zagreb’s trams and buses can purchase their tickets via mobile phone.
Several years ago, M-parking was introduced in Zagreb as the brain child of Croatian know-how. As of recently, SMS payment of tickets on Zagreb’s trams and buses has followed suit. A single ticket paid via M-transport service is valid for a limitless number of rides in the first tariff zone (the City of Zagreb) in any direction within 90 minutes from the time of payment. A person wishing to purchase a ticket via SMS text has to send the message ZG to number 8585 after which, within the next two minutes, they will receive a return message on their mobile phone confirming their purchase of a single fare ticket.
The price is 8 and 16 Kuna for a daytime and a night fare, respectively. A maximum of one ticket can be purchased via SMS text and at the moment of boarding a bus or tram the passenger must have received the confirmation of purchase on their mobile. A ZET official is able to check the information about the tickets purchased via SMS text (PIN, the number from which the message was sent, date, validity of the ticket, etc.).
By introducing the M-transport service, Zagreb’s Public Transport Operator is providing the passengers with the simplest possible way of paying for their bus and tram tickets. This unique payment system was created by Croatian experts and first introduced as a system of paying for car parking by phone.
Zagreb paved the way and in the meantime, 35 Croatian towns have followed, together with some other cities in the world which have adopted Zagreb’s M-parking model.
